Review:
This movie is based on a true story. It is a tale of adventure and loyalty set in the Antarctic. Two men begin a scientific expedition late in the season. Their team of eight sled dogs save their lives more than once due to the perilous conditions of the ice and the weather. One man is injured and must be flown out to safety. There is no room for the dogs and the weather prohibits a return flight. The dogs are left by themselves for six months. The chief sled driver, Jerry (Paul Walker), feels responsible and tries every way possible to get back to his dog team. We see how the dogs survived on their own. They all worked together, until Jerry came back for them. The action goes from the dogs to Jerry and back again. When we are watching the dogs, the film has no dialogue. The dogs let us know how they feel by their actions and faces. There is some animal death in the movie. There are also some perilous action sequences. Your child should be old enough to understand the concept of death. I would recommend they be 8 to 10 years old. This is a wonderful and heartwarming story. Everyone in the family old enough to see it will enjoy it. Why was Jerry so attached to the dogs? Why did the leadership role among the dogs change?
