She has a new job, a new apartment and she is trying to build a new life with her daughter, Ceci. Her divorce becomes bitter as her husband tries to get custody of her daughter. He tells mediators that she is crazy and she had a bad childhood with an alcoholic, inattentive mother. Dahlia is hanging onto her stability by a thread in a dilapidated, worn-out old apartment building with "dark water" dripping in the elevators and in her apartment. She hears noises and she sees things. Are they real or not? Someone young went missing in this building and Dahlia wants to know where she is. Her search makes her appear to be crazy and her husband takes advantage of that. The ending does not have a lot of closure. The themes of the bitter divorce, the fear of a child, a child having an imaginary friend and the death of a child are not appropriate for 13-year-olds. There are frightening sequences and disturbing images. There is also some brief language and the use of pharmaceuticals. This movie could definitely cause nightmares in children who scare easily. I would recommend it for children 15 and older. What is the ultimate sacrifice that Dahlia makes for her daughter? Do the parents always think of Ceci first, before the bitterness between themselves?
