Review:
Jack Mosley (Bruce Willis) is a has-been cop who just goes through the motions of his job. He is assigned to bring Eddie (Mos Def) 16 blocks to a grand jury trial. On the way, Jack stops to buy a bottle of alcohol. While he is in the store, someone tries to kill his prisoner. Jack saves Eddie but more men trying to kill Eddie chase them. Jack decides that no matter what, he is going to deliver Eddie to the Grand Jury to give his testimony. This is a story of good cops and bad cops. Jack risks his life to save Eddie. This is his first good deed in years. Willis plays the scruffy cop to a tee. He’s not all action and most of the fighting is done with guns, not fists. Mos Def portrays the always-talking Eddie perfectly. He is at times irritating and funny. There is lots of intense action and peril. People are killed. Alcohol is abused. The moral of the story is that it is never too late to find redemption. It can turn up in the oddest places. It is never too late for people to change. Why does Jack decide to help Eddie? Why does Eddie stick with Jack?
