10 Best and Worst Movies of 2006

Best Movies
1. United 93 We were afraid to see it but it really moved all who viewed it.

2. Little Miss Sunshine A dysfunctional family blossoms before our eyes.

3. Dream Girls
I love musicals. Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy turn in wonderful performances.

4. Blood Diamond
A relevant and action packed movie from beginning to end. This is happening in Africa today.

5. Letters From Iwo Jima
The Japanese viewpoint of the Battle of Iwo Jima. Their side is rarely seen on film.

6. Casino Royale
A leaner, meaner James Bond played by Daniel Craig deserves more sequels.

7. The Queen Queen Elizabeth must come out of her socially sheltered monarchy to deal with the death of Princess Diana.

8. Sweetland
The love story of two strangers in a small community after World War I. This movie was filmed in Minnesota.

9. Happy Feet A fun, animated family movie about individuality and adorable penguins.

10. Prairie Home Companion Robert Altman’s last hurrah before his death. An evening with Minnesotan Garrison Keillor and his friends.

Honorable Mention
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest – The biggest weekend movie opening in U.S. history. Johnny Depp as a shish kebob is hysterical.

(Or most disappointing)
1. Little Man A midget poses as a baby. Yuck.

2. Jackass the Movie II
Could a movie be any more stupid or gross?

3. Lady in the Water M. Night Shymalan disappoints us again.

4. Wicker Man Nicolas Cage is really burned by this script. What was he thinking?

5. Fur: A Portrait of Dianne Arbus
Nicole Kidman chooses too many strange movies.

6. Employee of the Month Jessica Simpson, please give up your acting career.

7. The Hills Have Eyes This horror movie was so stupid that  I skipped several other horror movies.

8. - 10
