![]() Linda Thomas has loved movies since she
was a small child. Her love of film eventually brought her to becoming
a film critic.
Linda was a film critic on WCCO radio for 3 years (1998 - 2001) on the "Dark in the Morning" show with Dark Star. Each Friday morning she reviewed film openings and video releases, and critiqued some of the weekly evening TV shows. In December, 2001, Linda became the film critic for the syndicated "Ruth Koscielak Show." She is on three stations in Minnesota - WMGT-AM1220 (Stillwater), KDWA-AM1460 (Hastings), and KRWC-AM1360 (Wright County). Ruth and Linda spend 40 minutes each Friday afternoon not only reviewing new movies and videos but also discussing the stars, their previous films and their lives. Linda is doing reviews on KKMS 980am radio. This is a Christian talk radio station. She can be heard on Fridays sometime between 3:30pm and 5:00pm. Movies and More Linda sees more than 150 movies a year, at press screenings before the films open. She's also had the opportunity to interview a number of directors and movie personnel when they are in town promoting their films. Linda appeared on a public access show called the "Cinema Judge" and she ventured into writing for Cinestar magazine in September, 2002. This Twin City movie magazine is available at most local theaters and Blockbuster video stores. Linda began doing movie reviews on KARE 11 television (NBC affiliate) in August of 2005. She can be seen several times a month on Fridays on Showcase Minnesota between 10am and 11am. National Institute on Media ... In August, 2003, Linda began writing movie reviews for parents for the National Institute on Media and the Family, headed by Dr. David Walsh, a nationally known writer and speaker. Her reviews appear on their website at www.mediafamily.org. Linda reviews PG-13, PG, and G movies on age appropriateness, violence, language, sex, and nudity. Female Viewpoint Linda is one of the few female reviewers on radio, TV, or in a major newspaper in the Twin Cities area. This gives her a different point of view to bring to her reviews and share with the audience. A life-long Minneapolis area resident, Linda was born and raised in Minnesota. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a double major in sociology and psychology. After buying for a women's retail store for 4 years, she married and started a family. Linda has raised a son and a daughter and knows what they like in the movies and what is appropriate. Hopefully, her reviews will help your family choose where to spend your movie-going dollar. Gaining Accredition The Toronto International Film Festival grants media accreditation to a limited number of professional arts and entertainment journalists. To be accredited, a journalist must submit a letter from an editor/producer asking the writer to cover the festival. A journalist must also submit a film or arts-related story he/she has written and a copy of the publication. Email Linda Back to Home Copyright © 2006 Linda Thomas |
